Aggregate is a full-service architecture and design firm based in Washington, D.C. Led by husband-and-wife team Mark and Lucia Freeman. Since its founding in 2009, Aggregate has designed, renovated, and expanded numerous properties across the region including residential, restaurant, office, retail, mixed-use, and multi-family buildings.
With experience in both the modernization and restoration of the region’s abundance of historic homes and original concepts, Aggregate uses a collaborative approach to pull together architecture, interior design, construction management, and engineering knowledge to shape the perfect-fit transformation for our residential clients.
Aggregate cultivates partnerships with those who commission, construct, and inhabit the spaces we design, keeping in mind that our work is a collaborative effort. Architecture is capable of transforming experiences and influencing well-being. Our team is driven to both create transformational spaces and steward the creation process responsibly, adding value to our communities, our city, and our clients’ properties.

+Lucia W. Freeman, AIA, NCARB
Since moving to Washington in 2003, Lucia has worked for both architecture and interior design firms. Lucia brings 20+ years of experience and specializes in interior architecture and custom millwork, including high-impact details that are often overlooked in the design process. This eye for detail is part of what sets Aggregate's services apart. Her project experience ranges from small residential renovations to luxury custom homes and commercial interiors. Lucia received her Master's in Architecture from Tulane University's School of Architecture in 2002. She is a licensed architect in Washington, DC, Arkansas and North Carolina, and is NCARB certified.
+Mark A. Freeman, AIA, NCARB
Since moving to Washington in 2003, Mark has architecture and construction firms in Washington, DC. Mark brings 20+ years of experience in space planning, architectural design, construction detailing and construction project administration to Aggregate. He prides himself on taking a hands-on team approach - from design conception through the construction process - in order to ensure a seamless process. Mark received his Master's in Architecture from Tulane University School of Architecture in 2002. He is a licensed architect in Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, and is NCARB certified.
+Guillermo Rueda, AIA
Guillermo joined Aggregate Architecture in 2024. He is a District of Columbia Registered Architect with more than 25 years of practice. A member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and International Code Council (ICC), his diverse design and construction experience encompasses a wide variety of project types in both private and public sectors. As a design architect, he was a principal at Singletary Rueda Architects, serving clients like The George Washington University (on all three campuses) with facility and campus planning exercises; faculty, student and department relocations; and development of new dining venues. These often involved navigating the regulatory maze to update university resources and working with technical advisors and engineers to complete the work. Other long-term clients included tenant services for Quadrangle Development and Merchandise Mart; restaurant projects such Rumberos and more notably Lauriol Plaza Restaurant. He also led design projects at many well-known DC firms like MV+A Architects for Whole Foods Markets stores in the Mid-Atlantic Region; helped establish the firm of Esocoff & Associates, led efforts on various projects like Goodwin House in Alexandria, VA, and at Keyes Condon Florence Architects, The Catholic University of America, and the now Capital One Arena in collaboration with Ellerbe Beckett Sports in Kansas City, MO
+Paula Hernandez
Paula joined Aggregate Architecture in 2022. She is a curious and creative architect who obtained her architecture license in Colombia in 2021. With experience in residential and commercial project planning and design, she brings a fresh, thoughtful perspective to every project. Currently pursuing U.S. architecture licensure, Paula continues to expand her expertise through hands-on involvement in all phases of the work. Guided by a commitment to meaningful, community‑focused design, she is passionate about contributing to projects that positively shape the built environment and the people it serves
+Daniel Santaella
Daniel joined Aggregate Architecture in 2022. Originally from Venezuela, he holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture and brings a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development. With experience spanning multiple phases of design and construction, he approaches each project with curiosity, creativity, and a detail‑oriented mindset. Daniel is particularly drawn to the multifaceted challenges of architectural practice and contributes a thoughtful, collaborative perspective to every project he works on.
+Alyssa Levy
Alyssa joined Aggregate Architecture in 2026 after earning her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia in 2025. Her interests focus on single-family residential architecture, including both restoration and new construction. She is passionate about designing thoughtful homes with an emphasis on character, intention, and detail. She is currently working toward her LEED Green Associate credential and architectural licensure.
